Are Taxis Becoming Your Buddy Who Was Allergic to Girls?

Today i was driving home from work, no different than any other day, listening to music until the daily cabbie cut me off. Im not talking about him speeding up a bit and angling me into the median causing me to slow down a bit and get mad. Im talking this dude was perpendicular to the flow of traffic, absolute lunatic move, i could count his side burns from my car thats how sideways this guy was. So i got to thinking…

Take a second, close your eyes, and imagine high school for a moment. Remember that kid who had no poise with the ladies, would get fed up, and blow it? Yup. you got it. For those who don't remember, let me remind you. This kid was classic, poke a girl on Facebook, get the poke back, send corny message like “oh my god can you believe how much homework Mrs. Smith gave us??!!!! yeah you do? let me get your number so we can text about it!” (fire flames play by the way, worked every time 75% of the time) They would start texting, then Friday night came, kid would be a little buzzed off Natty Light or Rubinoff after the football game, text her to hang out, but she was sleeping over Susan’s house and couldn’t. Not being able to handle a harmless “I'm busy” he would turn rejection into self sabotage, blow up, call her a bunch of names, and end up destroying his chance with her or any of her friends who may have been interested in the irrationally angry senior in the future.

Well i see no difference between that kid and taxi drivers. Obviously Uber is causing these taxi drivers nightmares but its almost like they cant handle that their careers are coming to an end (read: end until they actually buy a normal car and drive for Uber like they live in 2016) and rather than being forced out they want to be able to say “you didn't dump me, everyone in the U.S.! i dumped you!” You would think feeling the pressure of Uber, taxi drivers would do everything in their power to get in the good graces of the population, drive normal, not complain people are too loud/drunk to be given a ride, spend $1.99 on an air freshener, etc. But they don't, they have effectively gone into suicidal mode, driving worse than ever, and i wont stand for it. So everyone, lets double down on Uber this weekend, and if the surcharge gets to be too high and theres no other choice, be sure to let the cabby know your not doing it for him, your doing it for wallet.

P.S. I used Uber on purpose. I used to use Lyft but then my mom got a job. You know who uses Lyft? Taxi drivers, thats who.
